Back Then

By Gunslinger

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Sometimes I think a stranger- Resides inside of me. Resents the order in my life- Desiring to be free.... He wants to hit the open road- Go places we have been. And be a brother to the wind, The way we were back then. Back then, when I was foolish- Back then, when I was free. And nothing in the universe... Had any claim on me.... I had no place that I called home- Nor man who called friend. I guess I only lived to roam, That's how I was back then. Back then I had no children- I didn't have a wife... The only thing that I desired- Was live a drifter's life... To follow one more winding road- Until I reached the end... Sometimes I wish I could return- To how I was ...back then.
