Cowboy Till I Die
By Gunslinger
I rolled into Cowtown- Feeling pretty low. I’d mailed ahead my entries- To the Fort Worth rodeo. I checked into a Motel 6- Old Tom left on the light... To try and catch me forty winks, I have to ride tonight. The bulls are getting tougher- Or I am slowing down- I can’t seem to remember, My last real good go-round. It’s burger-deals, and chips and dip- And coffee by the pot... Most nights will finding me sleeping In some Shoney’s parking lot. All my friends can say is that- “He’s got a lot of try!” My youth I may have wasted, But I’ll cowboy till I die. Written February 11th, 2002 © on Feb 11 2002 11:39 AM PST, John R. Yaws 0 • 10
