Forgotten Words and Vows

By Gunslinger

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Last night as I lay in my bed- I felt so all alone... Relations with my family... Have chilled me to the bone. I never dreamed that homelife, Would ever be this cold- It doesn't help a thing at all- The fact I'm growing old. My mind went back to Abilene, Seguin, and San Antone... When I was young and carefree, But, alas, those days are gone. I wonder why I hang around- With things the way they are? I'd like to pack my suitcase, And throw it in the car... And head her West, and not look back- At what I left behind- But long forgotten words and vows, Weigh heavy on my mind. Written January 2nd, 2002 © on Jan 02 2002 06:40 AM PST, John R. Yaws   0 • 10
