However You Explain It

By Gunslinger

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

However You Explain It I wanted so to call you,And to hear your tender voice.I stood beside the pay phone,And I had to make my choice.I wanted so to talk to you-I know that I’m a fool…Life’s a game that ends in death,If you don’t play by the rules.I guess it has to do with age-The feelings that emerge…Desires to live our youths again,Surrender to the urge…Of living loose and crazy-Of running wild and free… However you explain it,It has gotten hold of me.But I climbed back in my pickup,And I heaved a weary sigh. And drove on down the highwayWith a teardrop in my eye…Perhaps it is a product,Of spending so much time alone-However you explain it…I guess I’ll just take it home. © Copyright 2001 John R.
