I Won't Have To Weep Alone
By Gunslinger
I Won't Have To Weep Alone I was driving down the highway- Just headed who knows where... I said, "I've got it all my way! Without a single care." Then the raindrops on the windshield Took me by complete surprise... And brought back those old memories Of the teardrops in your eyes. Then all my self assurance... Came crashing to the ground. Gone the pseudo, peace of mind. I thought that I had found. Regret for foolish things I'd done- Swept o'er my like a wave... Revealing there my shattered life, There's nothing left to save. I pressed the throttle harder... Thinking I'd outrun my grief- By now you'd think that I'd have learned- that guilt finds no relief... This old highway brings some solace- My tires sing their lonely song- And if the rain keeps falling... I won't have to weep alone. Written December 14th, 2001 © on Dec 13 2001 04:27 PM PST, John R.
