The Course of Life (or, Driven)

By Gunslinger

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Till this day I still can see- The teardrops on your face. I see the sorrow, pain, and grief- Which nothing can erase. It hurt me so to leave you- To saddle up and run... A pity that you can't undo- Wrong-doing, once it's done. I drifted in, a stranger- And somehow won your heart... I really tried to warn you, I was no good from the start... Two helpless leaves upon the wind And driven by it's force, We touched so briefly in our flight- Then went our fated course. So when you stop and think of me- I often think of you... Remember that at least we touched As down life's course we flew. Written December 30th, 2001 © on Dec 29 2001 03:42 PM PST, John R. Yaws   0 • 10
