The Last I Love You

By Gunslinger

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Our communications, have broken down it seems- You wish to dwell in darkness, with regrets and broken dreams. There’s nothing I could offer, that you could call your own- Perhaps you’re realistic, and we’d best go on alone. I guess that it was foolish, to think that things could change- You cannot change the pattern, that kismet does arrange... Our hands will never twine in love, as we walk in the night- No dawn will gently bathe our figures in it’s gentle light... Lonely is, will always be, the portion of our lives- We live, we love, we die alone, and only pain survives. So ere I lay my pen aside, I’ll tell you what I’ll do- I’ll once again peruse your face, write one more, “I love You”. Written March 11th, 2002 © on Mar 11 2002 05:01 AM PST, John R. Yaws   0 • 10
