The Twilight of my Life
By Gunslinger
A lot of people wonder why- I just dropped out of sight. I used to get around a lot... And had a lot of fights- I probably hurt some people No doubt, a few have cried. Some, maybe even wonder, If I went away and died. But I guess it may have been the years It may have been the miles. It may have been the heartaches- That kind of crimped my style. It may have been, I realized- Life's far too short to waste... It's meant to be enjoyed- So I thought I'd stop and taste... The pleasure of a sunset On the broad West Texas plains. The beauty of the turning leaves- The fragrance when it rains. The love of raising children... Some peace instead of strife- The comfort of a rocking chair, In the twilight of my life.
