Bad Day

By Halocination

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I'm sorry you're having a bad day.  But that is the way I live everyday.  A bad day is better than none at all, If I can answer my mother when she calls.  If today is the day that I hear my dad say, "Son I love you, and I appreciate all that you do."  Then life is worth it's stresses and fender-benders.  It is worth it's insufficient funds and it's return-to-senders.  If today my sister smiles at one of my remarks.  I will be happy that I was here and not at the beach or the park.  If I can wake up and trip over my dog.  I'll be happy that knowing he loves me and that it wasn't the rug.  If I can walk outside and enjoy the sun I won't complain about the heat when I take a run.  And when the snow covers everthing in sight,  I'll curl up in bed and say thank you for seeing me safely home tonight.  Or when I get stuck in thunder showers.  I won't complain about what I can't do, but constructively use my hours... I'm sorry you're having a bad day,  But I'm having a bad life.  Still I'm happy I can find little things to dull the edge of life-time's knife. When I go to work and find out my position no longer exists, I'll be happy I have a mate who will stay with me through every turn and twist. Or when my friends get mad at me,  For reasons which I don't understand or am somehow unsure,  I hope they know that I'm sorry, and they see my open door, And if all the people around me are losing their jobs, I'm praying for you, if you need it you can have it, but there is not that much on my pay stubs... I'm sorry you're having a bad day, Cuz mine doesn't seem so bad anymore, Yours probably wouldnt be either. But you keep nailing your feet to the floor. When things are bad with my parents, I think about my future and happiness with my wife, But no matter what is wrong I can always find something to balance it, That's right in my life. Maybe this only works for me. Maybe you can try it too. But a lifetime is a long time to spend, On being lonely sad and blue. If you don't have a mom to call you, Or your dad is not around. There are so many other things that can lift you above the ground. Even if you don't have a brother like me, or you and your sister don't talk. Just be thappy that there's sunshine and when you feel like it you can go for a walk. Or if you can't do any of those things, You can probably do stuff that I can't do, Just use it to make someone else smile and you'll realize your day, your life isn't so bad... All along it was just you!!! Copyright ©2001 Allister"Trust unconditionally..." [=-Halo-=] Written June 10th, 2001 © on Sep 19 2001 11:58 PM PST   0 • 12
