Wings

By Halocination

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

My eyes slowly shut, and my mind drifts away To that place where you and all of my dreams stay Not a single thought to things undone, thinking transcended The dancing of fireflies in the cool dusk of days ended The rustle of fairies skimming the lakes surface The soothing breeze, how familiar everything tastes As I sit in my swing, I'm diluted by dreams Sauntering the air on butterfly wings Floating on notes of beautiful sirens that sing Every branch of every tree becomes a woodwind flute Lending harmony, eyes closed still enroute Stars blink at me, and the moon begins to grin Staring at the sky, where am I going? Where have I been? Laying on dew kissed blades of green, My wings tightly folded, my hands reaching places unseen The music begins to subside, And fairies, sirens, fireflies, stars, moon, even sky They all find a place to hide. My wings waft away like they never had been My eyes, slowly open.
