School Days

I remember a time, circa 1959 when our culture was infinitely better A kid like me, sliding by with a 'C' knew lead and deal shared the same four letters I remember September, we were kids until the day that school began We had to sit and listen, taking in what we're now missing, all taught with a simple plan We played poker over at Pete's house, if they ever knew we'd be grounded under curfew with no say There were things that used to haunt me, even worse, sounds would taunt me many times each day Those things that once inflamed me no more do they shame me alas! I finally get my say Now I am older and, I must say much bolder collecting thoughts for so many years Each day that I am writing truly is exciting, God has allayed all my fears Written November 4th, 2001 © on Nov 04 2001 08:37 AM PST   0 • 9
