Sure we can do it How hard can it be? Only a small job! Turn 2 bedrooms into 3 Rip up the flooring Empty the rooms Scraping off paper Now where is that broom? Put up partitioning To split into 2 Buckets of plaster To make the cracks new Climb into the attic To alter the lighting This job seemed so easy Now it’s quite frightening “We want our own door We don’t want to share Can we have a hallway? And just put it there?” A hole in the wall To create a new door Now guess what they want? Yep! Laminate floor Moving the radiators Altering the switches How can one job Create so many hitches Painting and papering Replacing the wood Finding new problems And making them good We had a fine budget Which has seen better days But try telling the kids With their high spending ways New guest beds on glides When friends want to stay New curtains and blinds And a rug by the way New wardrobes and chests New desk, chair and lamp New duvets and pillows To complete the re-vamp But kids let me warn you When you next trash your room I know where I’ve put The tattered old broom!
