The Love of a Parent

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Have you ever had the feeling of your heart exploding? A rush of emotion that swallows your complete being Breathing is something that becomes hard to do,as your heart rises to your throat, you cannot speak for that moment. You are sure that your heart will stop beating. It feels like someone is tugging at your heart, pulling gently at first then more powerful, until it becomes almost painful. You want this feeling to never end, a moment that you can lock away in your mind and bring it out on ‘those’ days. Those days when all you feel is frustration. One where you could gladly walk away from this little bundle that only yesterday had your heart popping with emotion. A day when you wish that ‘you’ existed, to be able to sleep for only one night without disturbance. A day when you wish there were 36 hours and thinking that whoever made a 24 hour day wasn’t a parent. A day when the screams of your precious bundle become almost too much to bear, so you count to the magical 10 and take another deep breath, and carry on. A day when you wish housework would vanish and time would just stop and wait for you to catch up. Then in an instant, with rage threatening to raise its ugly head, your bundle of ‘Joy’ decides to give you that smile that can melt through solid ice. All at once your emotions of the second before vanish and pure love takes over, giving you that ‘special feeling’ that will carry you through the rest of the day.
