The human that humanity forgot

Stale bread with no butter That was found in the gutter. He feels like a loser, But begers carn't be choosers. Eat half, put half away To save for another day. He found some money on the street Next to his dirty feet, So he makes his way to the store Buys whiskey and nothing more. It'll keep him warm in the night Because his blankets are light. He seems to get more cold, Now he's getting old. He's the human that humanity forgot Because normal he is not, His clothes are rags He drinks whiskey out of paper bags He has no shoes And sleeps in yesterdays news. People look at him but never see, Because normal he will never be. He settles down in a discarded box And wishes that he had some socks. Then goes to sleep because it's getting late And prays to god that he will never wake. Written April 11th, 2002 © on Apr 11 2002 08:32 AM PST   0 • 9
