The Day The Earth Stood Silent
By KozMic BluEs
The lonely old stranger walking down the road, And he smiled as he wandered off into the night. It was raining now, it was pouring down hard. The man didn't mind, this was how he lived his life. He saw a row of lights, a hollowed out car, And the curtains drawn in every house. He heard the croak of a toad, the cry of a bird, And a squeak as it caught a helpless field mouse. He saw the bird fly, with the mouse in its claws, And he sighed at the end, of the poor mouse's life. A tragedy now, the end of a life, Not human, but nothing, deserves to be eaten alive. He lit up a smoke, in his cold, aged hands, And he puffed away deep into the night. He turned to his left, glanced once at the sky, And walked down the street, with the flashing street light. His life almost over, his death is the last, He coughs and he stumbles, he falls to his knees. Flashes of life, he remembers his past, He rolls on his side, inside this man bleeds. The old man struggles, and gasps for his breath, He won't die just yet, his death'll be violent. Just like the rest, he's caught the disease. The last man on Earth, will soon become silent.
