A child's wonder enraptures him Dimming his sight with fantasies His eyes unfocused seeing other worlds These visions held dear Cherished as valuable treasure A memory fades with time But the dreams grow with a life of their own Wishes for a reality that could be has already been And the world drains their colors Constant wear of water on stone The treasure is revealed 'baubles in pewter laid' Sensibility cures the cataracts of imagination and musings He holds to his dreams no matter how unreal in danger of being discarded To follow them into oblivion Adulthood- the killer of dreams It strikes as the hidden viper suddenly deadly What harm can come of an open mind?
