Feeling of Flight

By LadyPoet

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

At the end of a dingy hallway in a corner just out of sight She sits with her flame and needle waiting for that feeling of flight The world outside flows past her a life she chose to leave behind In her existence there are no others Only the demons occupying her mind Her clothes are ragged and dirty red hair hanging in matted clumps Her face thin from lack of nourishment Scavenging for scraps at city dumps Fear and desperation her companions As daylight surrenders to night She scrambles back to the hallway Again seeking that euphoria of flight Written October 22nd, 2001 © on Oct 22 2001 03:02 AM PST   0 • 9
