The Dream

By LadyPoet

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

In a meadow of dancing wild flowers she laid basking in warm midday sun Dreaming of kings and their castles and if her prince charming would come She envisioned him atop a black stallion as sounds of thunder echoed each stride The crest of the king he wore proudly a jeweled sword safely kept at his side Her intuition warned of great peril the battle was now close at hand In a glimmer she sensed his life fading as he died to protect the kings land Trembling she knelt down beside him bewildered to how this could be She was dreaming of a life everlasting in a castle she was yearning to see A touch and at once she awakened her eyes quickly adjusting to light Surrounded by dancing wild flowers and a black stallion fading from sight.
