_____'s Travels
By Leylia
"I'm off to find my story!" she decided with a laugh, and she packed her bags and said good-bye and started down her path. Her mother watched her leave from the window up above, and knew that she had raised her right: She'd act in wisdom and love. "I'm off to make my fortune!" he proclaimed to all he knew. They laughed and said He'd never win, He didn't have a clue. He'd never had a job, And he never finished school. They watched him run And begged the world, "Take pity on the fool." "I'm off to get my life back," someone whispered in the dark. She packed her things And planned the trip On which she would embark. She tiptoed past the broken glass, Still bloody from before, The man she loved Slept soundly, And she walked right out the door. The soldier seemed so youthful To someone far away Up close, his eyes Betrayed his age, His heart in disarray. His eyes revealed the death he'd dealt, His mind a grisly tome. He walked and walked and walked until he finally came home. Written February 28th, 2002 © on Feb 28 2002 02:58 AM PST 0 • 10
