Long Ago

Smoldering earth, reddened skies,Tropical ferns that kept your eyesFrom finding me, chameleon ~Nature's child among the fronds; You knew not what your eyes did seek,As your spirit nudged you from the sleepThat held you captive from my soul ~For eons, both lost in a cosmic hole;Memories vanished, this world we entered,Hunter, huntress, lives not centered; The atoms of our souls releasedOur lights, like spears, to slay the beastOf darkness, that of occult blindness;Moss beneath our feet, wandering aimless.Yet instincts led us onto pathsTo each other, gripped by wrathWhen your eyes discovered mine in hiding ~And I pounced at you, a wild cat fighting.I shrieked in terror, fear was my blood,You held me tightly, as images did floodYour mind, recalling a distant past ~When our souls had forged love ties to lastBeyond time and space that kept us apartUntil such time that the echo of our heartsWould guide us back to lives together ~And a love so strong that would be foreverA torch by which our eyes would light,Recalling lives from a star so bright.Wild hair flying, my eyes soon lockedOnto yours, flashing, as they talkedDirectly to my heart and soul,Awakened now from dark earth's bowl;Feeling safe at last, I held your gaze,My body calmed, I perceived a blaze,Visions of love which we did sowIn a distant place so long ago.
