Perceptions of Love

By Linrose

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

We're drawn to it, as human nature would be; We sometimes hide from it, in fear of its force; We seek it, study it, try to understand it with minds that cannot see; We try to tame it, yet at times unleash it to follow its course; We rejoice in it at the birth of a child, We linger in it, in the arms of someone dear ~ We revere it, in the songs of the wild, We mourn it, in the loss of someone near; We proclaim it hate, when angry and hurt ~ We know, though, it's the same thing, turned inside out; We think we feel it, when exposed to words from a flirt ~ We sullenly wish for it, when left alone in a pout; We may try to call it by other names ~ We want so badly to package it neatly; We finally know to let go of the games ~ We call it Love, and mean it deeply.
