F                                    PEACE ~               L                                Sing the angels,               A                            A word so easy on the lips,               G                            Yet forgotten in the heart.               Atop                                                                      The                                                                        Pole                                                              That once stood high                    Then one fateful day       In God's blue sky;                      We saw doomsday       The glass and steel                      When on tv screens       That could not feel                      Saw horrid scenes;       Yet lives moved in                      The towers struck-       That concrete rim;                      By jets run amuck;       Thousands of lives,                      The terrorists'ploy-       As though in hives,                      To brutally destroy       Worked diligently                        Icons, people, and       For their families;                      Spirit of the land;       Symbol of America                        Then the Pentagon,       It served as a mecca                    Too was hit upon;       Diverse companies-                      A final blow came       As monetary sentries                    With some acclaim       Showed their power                      For the brave men-       Through the towers;                      Fought evil men-       The web reached far-                    Crashed the plane       Linked all to its star                  Away from domain;       World Trade Center                      U.S. fabric is strong   Pride of every New Yorker.              Made so by its people's song.                       The rubble now beneath the feet                       May lead some to believe defeat;                     Yet from that pile of rocks and dirt,                 America's spirit arose, not broken nor hurt.                     The souls of those departed now fly -                 With angels among them in realms of high;                   Yet their love returns on angels' wings                   To enter hearts and pour in blessings. As a Canadian, in Montreal, Quebec, I was just as horrified as our good friends to the south by the terrible events of September 11/2001. My condolences to all who have suffered through the loss of a family member or friend. Written September 16th, 2001 © on Oct 06 2001 06:21 PM PST   0 • 9
