Whispers of Mystical Times

By Linrose

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Hush! Be still and listen past your heartbeat ~ To the swelling sound beckoning from an ancient time; Hear the melancholy stirrings of the Celtic harp so sweet ~ And maidens singing verses of love in rhyme; Feel beneath your feet, the thunderous sound of hooves ~ As knights of the Crusades proceeded to war ~ Championing their ladies’ scarves as woos ~ Heroes, alive or dead in gore, immortalized in books of lore; See majestic castles in Surrey and Sussex ~ Glimpse the mystical kingdom of Camelot; View the sorcerer Merlin preparing a hex ~ Against which no mortal man could have fought; Smell the putrid breath of a famed Sussex dragon, Which dwelled in the watery depths of Knucker Hole ~ Its reign of terror ended by a local son, The Lyminster Knucker dead, never again to take a soul. Feel the presence of Arthur, Lancelot and Guinevere ~ Their triangle of love weaved mythic tales for eternity; Gallant Lancelot, his desire transformed, removed all fear ~ As he valiantly fought for his Lord and Lady. Remember these things held deep within your soul ~ Let their essence enliven your mind ~ To recall which lifetime's ancient role ~ Your heart desires to once again find.
