The Dragon

By Lunar

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

His eyes peered out the window, that was high atop the spire. He'll spend eternity imprisoned there, for deceiving the noble sire. The cautious fairies of the land, slowly fly around, to see his heartache engulf him, and his soul forever bound. Still held tightly in his hand, is the dreaded blood stained knife, that plunged into the dragons heart, depriving him of life. Great victory he'd thought he'd found, as his heart kept beating faster, he was sure the sire would notice this, and dub him dragon master. In the kingdom the sire knows, that his heart could not be true, for he has seen his money eyes, disguised behind their blue. The knight returns, and feeling proud, opens up the door, but instead of light just darkness, for his heart could not be pure. The familiar voice that surrounds him, now rates his gallant deed, The sire speaks "love cannot grow, in a heart so full of greed". The voice now coming closer, that he could feel its angry breath, "never think of it a victory, when accomplishing a death. Forever you'll stay in this room, that in time you'll learn to fear, I leave for you this crystal jar, with only one dropped tear. I give to you this single tear, I wiped from the dragon's eye, as I sat there sadly watching, as his life just passed on by. The sentence I bestow on thee, is to vision night and day, all the pain the dragon felt, when you took his life away". Written September 2nd, 2001 © on Sep 01 2001 07:40 PM PST   0 • 10
