“Night Trek (Sistina)”

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I walk in the darkness of moon’s shadowNeath the dark stars of night’s skyA path traveled mostly by dayNow traversed by the black of nightEach step, a step in the darkWishing for a lighted way Hoping not to have lost the wayFumbling through the black shadowsFeeling the coldness of the darkNo illumination from the skyNothing but the dark of nightWishing for the light of day Oh but for the sun of dayWith the light showing my wayDrive back the dark of nightPush back the cloak of shadowsBurn away the black of skyEnd the reign of the dark Only sun may end this darkThe light for beginning of dayChange black to blue of skyThat I may find my way Chase back the dark shadowsBrought out by the night Let the day end this nightLight now my path of darkShove back the night shadowsTurn this night into daySo I can find again my wayLet the sun rise into the sky Turn the black into blue skyEnd this dark and blind of nightThat I may be on my wayInstead of lost in this darkHoping for light of dayScared of night’s shadows I fear the shadows of the nightOf this black sky so very darkTill the day then I know my wayThis is by far the most difficult structured poem I have written to date.
