Reflection
By Mac
I sit staring out the window A dim reflection stares back Looking out at the world The reflection looking back I focus on this reflection Trying to tune the world out But I cannot make it happen For I’m looking in, not out I see the world beyond the glass Through the reflection of myself I question who sees the clearest The dim reflection, or myself I watch the reflection intently Wondering what next he’ll do Imprisoned on that pane of glass While I am free to leave, and do A backward glance confirms The reflection trapped within Growing ever smaller Always without, never within.
