“Wind Break”

By Mac

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I walked across the wooded land The path twisting through the trees And now upon wood’s edge I stand The eyes slightly shaded by my hand Wondering what sights there are to see My pause one of sheer habit I fear, I have stood in these footprints before The thought of these woods so dear Perhaps on occasion to shed a tear More out of sworn duty than chore Slowly I turn back into the wood Not another step further shall I go Guessing if only wanted, I could Not to say now that ever I would This one path all that I know Perhaps when my heart is bold Another step further shall I take, But for now to these woods I hold Protected from this bitter cold The trees my only wind break Written October 6th, 2001 © on Oct 06 2001 06:25 AM PST, RD McManes   0 • 13
