Dawn

By Madriar

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I rise early to the first beams of sunlight peeking through my bedroom window. Out of my bed, I race outside coat in hand, to greet the new day. The soft grass tickles my feet as the dew seeps between my toes. Up the hill I run, toward the bright light of the sun rising in the East. The stars and moon fade into the dark sky, back into their silent slumber. I sit and watch the colors of red, yellow, and orange dance across the ever changing horizon.  The fears of yesterday disappear and the hopes of a new day rise with the dawn.
