\"Beneath The 7th Hell\"

By Matthew K. Brown

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

We've been here 1,000 times before, In this realm of depression, We refuse to make things better, When we give in to old addictions. But we are not dead, Though we might as well be, When we live our lives, Scared to be happy. Welcome to this hell again, Welcome to the fold, Sadness is a sanctuary for the weak, For the ones who won't let go, And you demons will drag you down, If you cannot control them, You must find a way to be free, Search for a way to breathe again. We build our walls like a fortress, To stand the test of time, We refuse to open our doors to daylight, In the darkness we live so blind. But we are not the only ones, To dwell in this state, We've seen the ones who hate to love, And the ones who love to hate. We must find the strength within ourselves, And dare to fail again, Continue on the seemingly endless search, For the one who is heaven sent. But if we give up the fight, Then we settle for emptiness, For there is no greater human sorrow, Than the one felt in loneliness. We've seen this 1,000 times before, Hearts trapped by the minds, But we'll get all that we deserve, If we can't leave the past behind. But we are not dead, Though we might as well be, Because what is life worth living for, If we only live in misery. So welcome to this hell again, Welcome to the fold, Sadness is a sanctuary for the weak, For the ones who won't let go, And your demons will drag you down, If you cannot control them, You must find a way to be free, Search for a way to breathe again. © on Aug 26 2001 05:36 AM PST   0 • 13
