\"Frailty Is The Beast\"

By Matthew K. Brown

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Frailty is the beast in a world, Where only the strong survive, Where words cut like knives, And the truth is always lies. Where dimension loses shape, And flowers fade away, Where love is a hypocrisy, And children never play. Where trembling legs are easy prey, And wounds never heal, Where sadness returns on holidays, And fiction is far too real. We believe the bad things over the good, Because lies are easily believed, It's the place where sex is God, And unwanted children are conceived. It's humanity that's inhumane, And trust is just a myth, Where tears are cried in vain, And hate is our solemn gift. Written August 26th, 2001 © on Aug 26 2001 05:54 AM PST   0 • 9
