Press On
By Mouse Poet
The day was long and ridged. Time itself seemed to stand still, but I still pressed on. I felt a small gentle breeze slipping through an open window, but I still pressed on. I heard an ever so silent voice whispering in the wind, but I still pressed on. I listened to the gentle words of the voice as it said to me "Come", but I still pressed on. I listened to the sound of the voice growing louder, as it would say "Come with me", but I still pressed on. I felt the beads of sweat on my forehead as the words turned into song, saying "Come with me, and let us be together" but I still pressed on. The song turned into a melody of beauty and peacefulness, saying, "Come with me, and let us be together, Let's sing the songs of happiness." but I still pressed on. Then, my hands started to tremble and my chest pounded, as I heard the song, "Come with me, and let us be together, Let's sing the songs of happiness as we dance into the winds of eternity." and I couldn't press on... As the music faded and the wind ceased to blow, all that remained was an open window and an empty space where a leaf now lay with the message on it written, "Come".
