The Fishies
By Mouse Poet
It once was a pool so beautiful and clear with images of fish and sea, And the children would play in the warm summer sun singing the songs of laughter. But then one day a raft was left on the waters, once so clear, So the evening frogs came out to play and on the raft, they did sing. Several days later the waters were interrupted by squiggly little things, And the little children watched with delight not daring to take a swim. They fed the little fishies blades of grass and watched them grow some legs, And the poor little pool once beautiful and clear was now a swamp of fish-like things. "So what do we do now?" the parents did ask of the children who caused these things, But the answer was clear as the pool had been to do nothing until the spring.Written January 7th, 2002 © on Jan 07 2002 01:36 PM PST personal • humor
