While You Lay Sleeping
By mystyblu1
I thought we were going to talk tonite, my beautiful one. There are so many issues, questions that demand explanation, how my feelings have been hurt, our relationship is teetering towards a fiery destruction. You stretched out on the couch, gave me a wicked grin, "Woman, say what's on your mind" I took a deep breath, for what I have to say is not easy, closed my eyes, silently, reverently, said a prayer, strength for me, understanding for you, opened my eyes, only to find you had fallen fast asleep. In that moment, gazing at you lying there, peace and contentment written on your face, a thought approaches and overshadows my rage, something I had forgotten, you truly are a man, no worries, things that make me crazy, just roll off your back, in spite of it all, I still love you. Watching you breathe, chest rising and falling, you turn slightly, a smile plays on your lips, I wonder who you are dreaming of, and hope its me. Time seems to have stood still, hours have passed by and I still sit on the end of the couch, watching you sleep, remembering all the joy, pleasure, good times, maybe my issues don't really matter, when all is said and done, I am here, and so are you, as it should be.
