Broken Vows

By OnceUpon

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Look at them, Those fools over there They do not know where they are Or what they are doing. They just stand, Decaying inside their shell shocked bodies. There is one, Smiling as if it were all a sick joke, But to him perhaps it is. The honour which was vowed to him, Now gone along with everything he had. Another about to die, His body crippling under his own weight, Although no one notices, They have seen it all before, So many times before. But perhaps they will be the next to die, To break free of this living torture, And to no longer suffer At the hands of a futile war. Look at them, For you will be the only one that will.
