The Purple Canopy
By pianogirl
An explosion of purple rips along the top of the entire length of fence A thick canopy of cascading flowers A mass of Chinese chimes poised to ring in the slightest breeze. Flowers bubble forth from that Jack Beanstalk vine A purple froth from a strange chemistry experiment. I wish I were outside with them. My nose itches and aches To smell that grand perfume. I cannot turn away, but behold the rapture This tangled jungle spilling carelessly down the side of the fence And then I see sitting down below, a small brown cat Casually grooming himself; unaware Of the crazy, giggling canopy overhead.written: --edited again Jan/5-/2001 Written May 11th, 1988 © on May 05 2001 05:15 AM PST 0 • 12
