Flyaway

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Darling, you're an innocent falcon I can't stop you From wandering with the wind. But every time You come and then leave me I wish I could Tie you to the ground See for myself if a caged bird cannot sing. So now you're flying high I can't see you For the sunlight reflected in my eyes. You're brilliant, Icarus, You'll never fall Though the sun may melt the wax You're flying far too high For that to matter anymore. Darling, you're a will-o-the-wisp You fly through me Like a ghost remembered in a dream. You still hurt me I love but can't leave you I wish I could finally let you go see for myself if I can live without you there. It's meant to be put to music...
