Jimmy's Last Mission

By Quabben

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

We had been friends for quite a few years Long before the military asked for our ears Convinced by their story we signed the pledge So many times we went to the edge For God and for country we stuck to the task When missions were over our hands we did clasp The day he was taken I remember with dread How my friend Jimmy, ended up dead The mission was dangerous, search and destroy Covertly seeking to find our boy The villagers told us he had long gone A young girl praised the deeds he had done Jimmy then questioned the thoughts of her words She didn’t like it and shot him right there I lost my friend Jimmy on that fateful day In his last moment I blew her away Written January 22nd, 2002 © on Jan 22 2002 12:49 AM PST   0 • 1
