To This Day You Still Are
I wonder right now under the great willow tree, I hide from the pain that I have bestowed upon myself. I pretend that you haven't left me at all, But instead you're really standing right next to me, Telling me a story, Holding my hand, Soothing the fact that you are all I had. I know I shouldn't make such a big deal of this, People tell me it's not like you were my best friend or anything, But I know they were wrong. I don't let them tell me who you are anymore, I don't let them shadow me from the truth that I must one day defend. I know who you were, You were my best friend, Because regular people don't rub my back when I'm sad, Regular people don't go for walks along the crystal clear river just for me, And regular people don't make me feel the way you did, When you were around, When you were here. Now all I have is the little sleep I obtain each night, To dream and to laugh and to remember you for who you are, And why you will always be. You truley were my best friend, And to this day, You still are, In my dreams and in my heart. This is a true story about someone who was very close to me... not like a girlfriend would be... differently.
