Boundaries

What are our boundaries in life and who sets them? Parameters that bind our beings quelch our interests stiffle our hearts... Set by us, for us, against us are for what? I remember being intimidated as a child by the things I couldn't do the people I'd never be Contemplation of goals I'd never reach limited the scope of my imagination, and ultimately my life experience, forging my expectations of who I should be. Today, I am different. I only wish I knew how. When did it change? How do I set others free? The beginnings of freedom seem benign. Small flashes of realization immediately preceeded by failure. Our inability to measure up to our own standards makes us our worst critics, anticipating dissapproval. Small moments of success, in excess of our greatest dreams, free the spirit, and eventually the spell is broken. I remember so few of those moments in contrast to the results of them. I've lost sight of the return path.A moments' contemplation of change and individualization. Written April 17th, 2002 © on Apr 16 2002 07:17 PM PST, Rick Merwin   0 • 10
