Talent Disguised
By Russ
You look at me with a ring in my ear. How dare you place a tag on me. I come to you in response to your ad With talent and utmost ability. You think in your mind, my values are warped For arriving with hair on my face. You will never see that I've been trained to be A success that's ahead of the pace. How brave I sit before you in denim. Why waste your valuable time. I came to you with something to offer. All you see, is I'm just out of line. Why do you want to be a part of our team? You ask me as if it's a chore. I tell you with me you'll have an asset, Make profit like never before. You chuckle and glance at the shoes on my feet, Notice they're not of your stature. I sit there before you, a gleam in my eye, If you knew me, it's me you would capture. The meeting adjourns, you say you'll decide, Within a week, maybe two. By the end of the day, you hire a grunt, stunning coat, dashing tie, and nice shoes. Low and behold to your shallow amazement, Yes, me the "degenerate slob", Started a business, bought out yours, You look good, but your out of a job.
