'Tread The River Bank' Challenge Poem

"Tread The River Bank" I stroll along the river bank, where as a child I use to play. My eyes behold the features, of mother natures distinct arrays. It's autumn in the city, but on the river bank I see. A beauty, as in the country, And the autumn colored leafs. Golden brown, and rusty red, with orange and yellows hues. And on the ground a frosty mist, of early morning dew. This trail on my river bank, has been treaded for many years. Created by all the children, that have long gone or disappeared. It's river calmly flowing, with ripples soothing to the ears, I think, "The cold will soon be settling in, And a ice rink will soon appear." As I tread, this trailed river bank, my mind drifts back in time. It takes me to my childhood, that lingers in my mind. Down, we slide the snow filled banks. Then climb back to the top. This river bank is where we played, until we almost dropped. The breeze is picking up now. Wind flowing through my hair. It brings me back to autumn, and the essence that it shares. The squirrels are gathering acorns. While others, build thier winter seats. The rabbits gather berries. For a winter night time feast. The sparrow swoops onto the bank, to gather twigs and such. He flies back to the tree branch, Where he builds his winter hutch. A mouse I see upon the ground. He's running to and fro. He seems in such a hurry, as if he knows, there'll soon be snow. I see, I'm not the only one, who treads this river bank. Paddling on the river ripples, I see a pair of glossy drakes. I gaze on down the river, as the sun sets in the east. I'll always tread the river bank. It fills my heart with peace.
