Inside The Sandbox
By sharmeka
Inside the sand box you held us together with all your knits and knots You wrote your life story their you dreamt of Paris while your children tangoed the years Our happiness survived bad times that fell upon your design You found it hard to compete when others took your seat Having very little room to be mom having space once we were gone When we grew older fonder of other things You felt you love collecting dust you sand box becoming a floor of broken trust You wanted us to stay where we were at To laugh the way we did when you bounced us on your lap You made it hard for us to survive apart Sometimes I wonder if we crowded your heart You couldn't get the tiniest of sun or shall your quiet self with anyone Blinded by the light of the moon we did not leave you to soon Now that we're in motion I don't think you standing still Your smiling while drinking coffee a tad bit thrilledwritten for my mother who raised five kids Written November 16th, 2001 © on Nov 16 2001 10:54 AM PST 0 • 8
