One for the Elements
By SilentWolf
The accent of the spirited sky tells me it is time The gentle breeze upon the land whistles like a chime I lower myself to the ground and prowl out of the cave Careful not to wake my mate I stumble and freeze, a close shave He mumbles and turns over, hugging the shadows I screened around rocks I did so for in this occasion, when at my door the spirits knock Walking over snow covered lands in the forest so vast and still I lower my head and duck a branch, to my ears even the snap of a twig kills I make no mark in the snow, for the shadows dust it away And the same for when I shall return in the early day I leave no scent behind, for it filters through the night Because in this special time, I control all with new might My aura seems to shine, my senses know the way For this is the sacred ground, where my ancestors once stayed They know of my power, and use it to help me find the spot The wind blows me in the direction, get lost I cannot The sky is alive with stars, all of them dressed up so fine It seems you can see the heavans, between the bright star shine I walk a little further, then suddenly I see The river of deep blue purity and the spirited wolf shaped tree My memories serve me well, for when I was born this was where I stay I can almost see myself, curled up on a branch during the naptime of the day I stand before the tree, as it lifts itself to the sky It faces the bright full moon, as if like a wolf it can cry I stand myself strong and firm on the sacred ground In an instant I feel a presance, and turn myself around Five of the ancient wolves, elements are flared Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, and Light, all of the ancients are there Earth the grass' green, Fire the sunlight's red, Wind the bright sky's blue Water of the deepest river's color, and Light, the purest white hue All stand before me, I am the one of the shadowy dark With the deepest black fur, and on my chest the cresent moon's mark All of them step forth, their eyes a glow with bliss They shower me with their power, was their something that I missed Now I remembered, before their time had come They knew when I grew older, I would be the one I now held their power, the tattoos of elements on my skin Under my fur they must lay, for nobody must know I was kin Then the power hungry creatures, all around the land Would throw themselves on me, and make my sudden end They gave me immortality, the greatest gift of all When I split with my mate, we knew we would never fall I stood there looking at them, and they looked back into my eyes Then we all lifted our muzzles, and let out the song to the skies Slowly then they faded, each adding wisdom to mine And if I should ever need them, I could find them any time Just look into the sky, the water, the sun, the dirt, the light It may seem odd to think this, but they're there alright With the sun peeking over the forest, and night turning into day I turned and headed back, my heart knew the way I was shocked to find when I returned my mate was sitting awake and strong He confessed and told me, he knew all along For winter is his power, and beeing one with cold He confided in the wind, and knowing him as my mate was told I thought he might be angry, but wasn't in the least Actually he was proud of me, and on sleep we did feast With all these powers, carried on through time I can only wonder.. is it possible I still have them as mine?Past life stuff again.. whoo hoo! I got this from a feeling I've had inside me... could it be true? o.O Written February 3rd, 2002 © on Feb 02 2002 11:30 PM PST 0 • 13
