Darkened Lake
By Simonic
So he spake “Give not life, Nor give death” As a cool breeze fell Upon that lake The lake In a clamourous reply Drank in those deep dark words As a life which was not a life Was given to he as a fake Within the dark eyes Of the lake’s own life A petal fell Down into it’s depths As it too did die “Run no further, Drink the waters of death, Only to receive life” Spake he again As they fell further Upon their knees Weeping and praying They drank that water they did And one by one They became trees Leaves brown and dull Bark darkened ash No nesting birds No playful music Only a hollow skull “Warned you I did!” He cried And in unison they did reply “We did as you had said, We did as you had bid” “That you did and now you Receive that which you had sought Sink your roots into the ground And drink the waters for all Eternity, that is what I now bid” So they all sank their roots Into that chalky ground Unable to move Under the sun Under the roots Death Only for life Yet not a life Given to them For the path to take Was their deathThis one, I found on my hard drive, and thought it was ok. I'm not all too sure what mood I was in at the time, but I know(atleast I think I do, hehe) why I wrote it. And this one, I think will confuse a lot of people, hehe. So be it ;) A hint, it could be put under "society" too. Written September 20th, 2001 © on Sep 20 2001 12:30 PM PST 0 • 13
