Kin Mar Telan’ah(Tale of Telan'ah)
By Simonic
Ramblings of a Wizard Kin Mar Telan’ah -Tale of Telan’ah- Quietly I sat, amid a lushly green Grassy hill, with a soothing creak Flowing upon my right, gently splashing Upon the water smoothed stones The day’s sun was on it’s last breaths, Slowly falling down behind sight, casting That gorgeous ray of pinks and purples Before meeting that darkened blue As I sat, breathing in the crisp and sweetening Air, I heard something walking silently behind In my head, I had thought the worst, for I was Far off in the great grassy lands of Sandra So, slowly I turned expecting to see my death By a silent dagger to my back, yet as my eyes Met what was before, I literally gasped, for here Now stood majestical Telan’ah, the icon of gods Telan’ah was one of the eight unicorns, bred By the gods for the great men during the War of Ictar, the immortal under torment, for They’re beauty mesmerized even the cruelest And during the Ictarian War, the unicorns carried The leaders of men and imbued them with the Powerful might of the gods, and even granted them Some resistance to harm, when upon their shiny backs When the majestical godly steeds first entered the war, Ictar in his hunger for power created something far Horrendous to men, summoning into being the Wyvern, A lesser dragon, yet almost as deadly, with Teslor's aid And upon the jet black draconic steeds, rode Ictar’s Leading generals, giving their assault with fire from above The heads of the great men of Rinmar, causing brave Men to scream in terror when they rose into the skies It was now, when the great generals of men, flew in Upon their glowing steeds, with a majestically twisted horn Causing men from both armies to stop and gasp, seeing The work and beauty of the gods, pass by over head Yet, the hatred within Ictar shielded his eyes, and Commanded his generals to bring down the great Works of the gods with blistering flames and spells Casting them to the bloodied ground below Keeping watch, Bela held the day longer, as she too Watched with keen eyesfrom above, as the sixteen beasts Fought in the murky air, as smoke and dust rose from below As the groups circles around, mid air, eyeing each other Until Jenin, Lord of Zabos, spurred his majestic steed Into the fray of thorny black wyverns, and with his Glowing blade, sought the thick flesh of the foe’s beast Catching him upon the right thigh, before a cry arose From within his steed’s throat, as a sharp claw slashed It’s Side, spewing out silver blood, falling to the ground below Slowly bringing Jenin down with it, where he quickly met his Death to the dark creatures below, under Ictar’s command And so the battle in the air continued, with the great Generals of men defeating four of the beasts created By Ictar, with the Death’s Hand aid, only to have all But two of the great unicorns still amid the air, gasping It was now, when I noticed a change, in both the air And in the men upon the ground, a presence was about That all seemed to know and all feared, however I was Not able to place what it was, so I spun about looking And to the north, I saw him, draped in robes glimmering With utter power, robes sewed by Macy, and worn by Lylirn, shimmering with all the power of the great and Mighty deathless gods, and in his hand he held a staff For moments both battles in the air and earth halted Looking to the new figure who entered the fields of Battle, gliding smoothly upon air, holding his silvered Staff in his right hand, as his glowing red robes, scintillated His eyes were black, and his hair was silver, down to his Shoulders, he held no beared, but did not look all too Young, as his eyes gazed up into the sky above, he saw The gorgeous works of the gods, flying and breathing hard And pointing a finger into the sky, at one of the great Unicorns he called out to them, in a voice which sent Every ear quaking at it’s great strength and authority And he said: “Telan’ah! Great and majestic steed of the gods, come Down now and aid me in the conquest of those who Stand up against those who bred you!” Spoke the great wizard who floated amid the air And from the sky, one of the gorgeous steeds flew to The ground and landed upon the bloodied stones there And Marchuk, King of Rinmar rolled off the great steed And bowed to the wizard saying: “Great spell lord, Simonic, man from the lands men have Not defiled, I grant you the blessing given to me by the Gods, so they may aid you in the battle ahead of you,” And with head cast down, the great king backed away And I saw, Simonic, glide himself gently upon the back Of the steed, and as he took to the murky air, he uttered A word, and the steed glistened with unspeakable light And beauty, casting aside the filth and smoke of the air As he rode higher into the sky, meeting up with the rest, Galen upon his shiny steed let loose a foolish war cry Presuming his assured victory and charged into the four Flying black wyverns, only to meet his fiery death Smoking, Galen and his squealing steed, fell to the earth Shattering their corpses upon the bloodied rocks of the Ground, and now the four remaining men and beasts of Ictar Glared into the ominous eyes of Simonic, as he spurred Telan’ah From his waist, he drew out a thin silvery blade, that shimmered As it caught the light of the sky, and brought it across the Neck of a beast and continued on into the torso of it’s rider Sending both, spewing hot blood as they fell to the earth Fear stricken, the remaining riders of the cruel beasts spat Crimson red flames at the spell lord, only to have them wash Harmlessly over an unseen globe, before fate hit their eyes And they pulled on chain reigns and attempted to flee But, Simonic, spell lord of men began to weave a spell That caused his words to sound as thunder to those below Sending many to their knees, praying to their gods, to not Bring them death from the massive storm, yet the spell I knew was to a god, to great Rann, ruler of the winds, and Before the jet black wyverns a huge being appeared, with Wispy features akin to the air, and hair that swayed effortlessly Within the lacking wind, all upon the ground gasped, even I Rann, the Great Wind, stood now before the beasts, Glowering at them with hate, before he took his great Godly hand, and slammed it down over their heads, causing Fire to flail madly as they spun about till they hit the ground Adding to the splashing blood upon the ground, unable to be Soaked up by the hot rocks. And so it was, Simonic, The spell lord, remained upon the great and glorified unicorn Telan’ah, till moments before he was to confront Ictar Sighing now, capturing back my moment within the Ancient Halls, I remembered seeing that steed near the gentle stream, kneeling It’s soft and majestic head and taking sips from the stream, while I Admired the great craftsmanship of the gods, within a living creature Telan’ah, the last surviving unicorn created by the gods, was Given to Simonic, as a gift for saving the lands from the powerful Immortal wizard, Ictar. And with it a pact made, that no other Unicorns will ever grace the skies, for all the beauty Left within the gods, has failed in the modern times, and Their only true beauty lies within their cherished creation The great and gorgeous steeds that Simonic rode in his Defeat of Ictar, the unicorns.Well, threw this one in for the unicorn challenge ..but really the idea of a unicorn just kinda got me writing, if it wins well then hey ;P But, there are some pretty nice poems submitted. But honestly..I never had a taste for unicorns in fantasy...but as I put it them in here, I wouldn't mind havin one ;P This is a segment of the great battle of Rinmar, as Ictar had moved his forces in...basically the last straw for the gods, and thus asked mortals to seek out Simonic, another immortal who is rarely seen...and well, he's the only man who can stand a chance up to Ictar, who before this time had defeated 2 gods themselves. Yeah, Ictar is that powerful ;) So, basically, this is just the tale of Telan'ah and Simonic's arrival in the battle, it may be true within the lore or it may not be..you'd have to go ask Simonic himself ;) Written February 20th, 2002 © on Feb 19 2002 10:26 PM PST 0 • 10
