Ocean Walk

I tread slowly about the shallow waters Glancing once to the depths which I left The people still blindly swim Swim within the depths of the water Some float lifelessly Drowned by it’s dark pressure Some laugh jubilantly Next to others following suit Some are just floating Unaware of where they are I glance at my waters The solid ground beneath my feet I try to call to them To tell them it’s better on the solid beach None hear For the waves of the depths crash over them For the laughs of the mindless fill the air For the screams of the needy pierce their ears They are of the deep water I am of the shallow I am on solid ground They are on moving uncertainty Yet, they know They know the dangers They know the consequences They know their pleasures Soon, they will know their deaths Soon, they will become too weak for the waters And on that day, they will be too weak to swim into the shore On that day, I will already be there Cry for help they will Cry for someone to save them Cry for strength All will be denied For they knew And they chose Walk upon the calm beach Not the submerging depths.
