Spiral of Darkness (Death of a Wizard)
By Simonic
Flickering flames, crawled Madly about exposed flesh As I writhed, breathing Hard, as one does far beyond exhaustion Tilting my head up, like a dying dog I saw his eyes, full of flame A demon of my fate, letting Fire course through my screaming blood Looking into his blazing coals A laugh erupted from within his inhuman throat Spewing forth that vacant merciless laugh That rent my entire body with agonizing flames, causing Fiery blood to flow from where sweat once had dripped Sending my brain spinning madly within it’s case; My mind seethed, turning violently over itself, Groaning, as fire singed the edges of my precious blue irises Time seemed to end, as the horizon Of eternity rode an obsidian black chariot, amid a blazing crimson sky As ashen air choked and burned, Crumbling lungs and heart Searching through a tortured mind, seeking For an incantation, long since drained away Amid this pool of blood, as my own Life’s essence revolts against it’s master, murdering him Gasping wildly for taintless air, fire again fills Charred and blazing lungs, coughing up blood As the demon’s laughter wove another spell Leaving my mutilated body cold and numb The pain fled, and I was freed Yet, my eyes affixed upon the obsidian chariot As it melted into a spiral of darkness, crude as death itself And from the high heights of the crimson sky, it spiraled down And with deadly grace it rolled about itself, as The air before it seemed to tremble with fear, approaching my Numb body, as I starred up stupefied, being Engulfed and claimed by the spiral of darkness And as the darkness enshrouded me wholly Light ceased to be, and so I stared at the, Nothingness of death, and sighed as I spoke, “‘tis the great ending glory to a tired and spent wizard.”Well, dont know if I would call this a poem per se...but shrug. Any comments/suggestions welcomed, heh. Written February 13th, 2002 © on Feb 13 2002 05:48 AM PST 0 • 10
