Coins on the Table-(A Drinking Song)

By Smeagol

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Sally Simpson was a bonny lass She came from the Isle of Linkin Swore she'd never marry a man Unless he could best her drinkin' Sally's beauty was unparralled And she never lacked for a suitor But they always left unsatisfied And in a drunken stupor When Sally was a babe she'd cry and shout Her ma used to say she was frisky But her da soon found the best way to calm her down Was to give her a shot of his whiskey Sally grew up with a love of the drop She never seemed to get her fill It may have been a sin but when she was 10 They gave her her own whiskey still So here's to you-and all that you do May you always be willing and able So let out a shout-and wave your mug about And leave some coins on the table Angus Mcnab was a lively lad and on Sally he cast his eye He said when I drink it helps me to think And I'll have her 'afor I die Now the crafty lad found Sally's dad And said I'm the one to take her away Then they set up the rounds and began to knock 'em down They drank strait for 7 long days Sally's da stood by with a tear in his eye As more whiskey they kept demandin' Soon it was found Sally's face was in the ground And Angus Mcnab was still standin' When Sally was revived she became a blushing bride And her da said goodbye to his daughter Then he gave Angus a wink as he poured out the drink Cause Angus' mug was full of water So here's to you-and all that you do May you always be willing and able So let out a shout-and wave your mug about And leave some coins on the tableThis song works much better after a fell shots of your own!
