The Rescueing Knight

By Smeagol

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

There once was a fair Princess high up in a tower It was said she was as beautiful as a newly bloomin' flower And there was a noble Knight who did swear and avow He would be the one to rescue her alas he knew not how So the Knight hired a Carpender with hammer, wood, and nail To build him a lofty ladder on which he would prevail And when the ladder was in place the Knight he did ascend But alas when he was half way up he was blown off by the wind So the Knight he grabbed a soldier and with a catapult did try To sail himself through the air and into her window he'd fly But the soldier's calculations were a little out of touch When the Knight slammed into the tower wall he began to curse his luck So the Knight sent for a Wizard the best in all the land One who could change him into a bird with just one wave of his hand But the wizard had been drinking things were muddy in his head And unfortunatly for the Knight he became a frog instead Now the Knight he knew that he had failed on his noble Quest He did not rescue the maid he had not passed the test But he had one last idea in the tickings of the clock the Knight went to the tower door And found it was not locked! You never know what you have untill it's taken away You never know how dark the night is untill you've seen the day You never know which way to turn untill you have been lost And you never know what the price will be untill you've paid the cost!
