Through The Eyes Of An Eagle
By Starburst
Outside me I see the shining waters and tall trees of my home. Inside me I feel love for this beautiful place and lucky that I am here. Outside me I see fish beneath the water Inside me I feel hunger and longing to tear at the flesh of a fat perch and ease my need. Outside me I see the water rushing up at me as I dive towards the lake. Inside me I feel the adrenaline rush that comes with every hunt. Outside me I see the fish wiggling helplessly in my talons as it struggles pathetically, trying to get away. Inside me I know I am superior and at the moment I feel nothing can beat me. Outside me I hera loud roaring noises and swerve suddenly, startled at the large yellow monster tearing at my tree. Inside me I am outraged and terrified. What is this thing and why is it here? Outside me my talons open ; the meal , forgotten, drops to the ground with a thud. Inside me I want to fight this creature that is tearing down my home. Outside me I see trees falling and the color yellow as I attack the beast, finding it hard, unpenatrable, and cold. Inside me I feel confused and have no idea when it will leave, because I am helpless and can't make it go. Outside me I see night coming and the beast rumbles away leaving a path of destruction in its wake. Inside me I know I'll never take for granted my superiority over smaller creatures, for I have a superior, too. Outside me I see, years later, the trees growing back and my children feasting on a perch. Inside me I know that life goes on and that I must remember to tell my children to always keep their guard up and to never become so blinded by a triumph that they cannot see defeat.
